This heat-resistant napa cabbage is for gardeners who want to try heading cabbage in lowland Malaysia. It is more forgiving than standard types, but heads may be looser during very hot spells.

  1. Sow 1–2 seeds per cell in a seedling tray, 0.5–1 cm deep, and keep in bright shade.
  2. Transplant at 4–5 true leaves (about 3–4 weeks) into rich, well-drained soil, 35–40 cm apart.
  3. Water deeply and regularly — uneven watering slows heading.
  4. Harvest when the head feels firm when gently squeezed.

Tip: caterpillars and flea beetles love cabbage. Cover young plants with insect netting and check under the leaves every few days.
