Orange Marigold Seeds

This African marigold (Tagetes erecta) produces large, fully double pompoms in deep orange to orange-red. It thrives in lowland heat, flowers for weeks and is a favourite for festive pots, garlands and bright borders — an easy win for beginners.

1. Sow about 0.5 cm deep in trays or straight into a sunny bed.
2. Keep moist; seedlings appear in about 4–7 days.
3. Transplant or thin to 25–30 cm apart at 4–6 leaves.
4. Pinch the first tip for a bushier plant, then let the buds develop.

Tip: cut or deadhead flowers as soon as they fade — plants keep producing new buds for much longer. Water at the base in the morning so the dense heads dry out before evening.
