Impatiens Mix (Garden Balsam) Seeds

These are single-flowered garden balsams (Impatiens balsamina), the keembong grown around Malaysian homes for generations. Plants grow upright to about 30–60 cm, with flowers in pink, purple, red and white tucked along the stems. They are fast and forgiving, ideal for beginners and children.

1. Sow 0.3–0.5 cm deep in trays, pots or straight into a sunny bed.
2. Keep moist; seedlings appear in about a week.
3. Thin or transplant to 20–25 cm apart when plants have 4–6 leaves.
4. Water regularly — balsam wilts quickly when dry but recovers after watering.

Tip: ripe pods burst and fling their seeds at a touch — collect them for your next sowing. Good drainage helps prevent stem rot in the rainy season.
