Sweet corn thrives in Malaysian heat and is a fun crop for terrace-house yards, rooftops and families with space to spare.
- Sow 2 seeds per hole, 3–4 cm deep, 25–30 cm apart in a square block.
- Keep one strong seedling per hole.
- Hill up soil around the base when plants are knee-high, and feed generously.
- Harvest about 18–24 days after the silks appear, when a pressed kernel gives milky juice.
Tip: corn is wind-pollinated, so a block of short rows gives far fuller cobs than one long row. Check the leaf whorls often for fall armyworm.
