This seed is grown for pumpkin shoots, not for big fruit. It suits beginners and anyone who loves pucuk labu, and grows quickly in Malaysian heat.

Sow 2 seeds per hole, 2 cm deep, 40–60 cm apart in a sunny bed or large polybag.
Keep the stronger seedling and let the vine run along the ground or a low trellis.
Once vines reach about 60 cm, cut the top 20–30 cm of each runner with its young leaves and tendrils.
New side shoots grow back — harvest every few days.

Tip: peel the thin, prickly skin off thicker stems before cooking. Regular cutting and nitrogen-rich feeding keep fresh shoots coming.
