Cosmos is for gardeners who want lots of colour with very little fuss. It handles lowland heat well and brings bees and butterflies into the garden.
- Sow 2–3 seeds per spot, about 0.5 cm deep, directly where they will grow.
- Keep moist until seedlings appear, usually within 4–10 days.
- Thin to the strongest seedling and pinch the tip at about 30 cm tall.
- Grow in full sun and water when the top of the soil is dry.
Tip: skip the manure and heavy feeding — rich soil gives tall, floppy plants with fewer flowers.
