Bell pepper is for growers who have had success with chili and want a new challenge. In lowland Malaysia it does best in a large pot under a porch roof or rain shelter with plenty of morning sun.
- Sow in a seedling tray, about 0.5 cm deep, sheltered from rain.
- Transplant at 4–6 true leaves into a 15–20 L pot and stake it.
- Water evenly and switch to a potassium-rich feed at flowering.
- Pick green when full size and glossy, or wait 2–3 weeks for colour.
Tip: flower drop is common in lowland heat. Afternoon shade, even watering and not too much nitrogen all help fruit set.
