Cauliflower needs cool nights to form a good white head, so in lowland Malaysia it is one for experienced or curious growers. Highland gardeners will find it much easier.
- Sow in a seedling tray about 0.5 cm deep, ideally from October to December.
- Transplant young, at 4–5 true leaves, into a large pot.
- Never let the soil dry out; feed regularly and keep netting over the plants.
- When the head appears, fold leaves over it for shade and cut it while still tight and white.
Tip: any stress turns lowland cauliflower into tiny "button" heads — steady water and feeding matter more than anything else.
