Preparation

There are many different kinds of sweet corn and many colors of available. Sweet corn requires warm soil. You should plant corn in the warm season or in the summer.

Planting

Place the seeds 1/2 inch (1-2 cm) deep in low temperature and humid soil. Seeds 9 to 12 (22-30 cm) inches apart in rows. It is a good idea to plant two or more rows side by side to ensure good growth. Allow 30 to 36 inches between rows.

Fertilizing

When you plant them, fertilize the sweet corn seeds right around. If your corn reaches approximately 10 inches (25 cm) tall, and again fertilize. Corn is expected to harvest 3 weeks after the first silk appears.

Harvesting

Your corn is ready to be harvested in 60-85 days. To pick them, break the ear from the stalk close to the base so as not to damage the ear or the stalk.
